Coaching at The
Karter Consultancy
What is Coaching?
Coaching is about forward movement. It focuses on your current situation, where you want to be, and what needs to change to help you get there. Rather than spending extended time analysing the past, coaching is concerned with identifying a goal, clarifying your direction, and building the momentum needed to move towards it.
Carving New Grooves
I often describe this as carving new “grooves.” The deeper we reinforce these grooves through repetition and practice, the more automatic and natural the new pattern becomes. It is very similar to going to the gym: you cannot build strength by showing up once or twice. You have to keep turning up, reinforcing the pattern, until it becomes established.

Why People Come
to Coaching
People often come to coaching because they want to make meaningful changes in their lives, but feel stuck, unmotivated, unsure where to start, or repeatedly pulled back into the same unhelpful cycles.
You might know what needs to change, but still find yourself unable to take the action needed to make it happen.
You may want to improve your confidence or self-esteem, become more assertive, develop better boundaries, strengthen your social skills, navigate dating or relationships, build healthier habits, reduce procrastination, or create more structure and discipline in your life. Coaching can also help with workplace challenges, stress, lifestyle change, and reducing reliance on mobile phones, social media or other digital habits.
At its core, coaching helps you understand what may be getting in the way of where you want to be, and supports you in taking meaningful steps in a new direction. Additionally, by having the human element, you get your own personal coach to motivate you and hold you accountable. This ensures you make genuine change and actually achieve your goals. By setting collaborative micro-homework tasks between sessions, you get to try out these new behaviours and habits in the real world through committed action.
